About the event

Advanced Beekeeping: Growth, Splits & Sustainable Beekeeping

For Beekeepers Ready to Expand Their Skills and Become Truly Self-Sufficient

This advanced beekeeping class is designed for beekeepers who have successfully overwintered their bees, understand the biology of the honey bee, and are ready to take their skills to the next level.

For many homesteaders, the ultimate goal is self-sufficiency. There’s nothing more rewarding than building independence, food security, and the ability to generate extra income from your own beekeeping efforts. If sustainability and growth are among your goals, this class is for you.

In this comprehensive session, Daniel Kneblewski will teach you how to bring your hives out of spring strong, expand your apiary, raise queens, and grow your operation in a sustainable, profitable way. Completion of the beginner beekeeping series at Generations Marketplace is highly recommended before attending.

This advanced program is based on the Ontario Beekeeping Manual, techniques learned from master beekeepers and breeders, and Daniel’s seven years of hands-on experience. With Daniel’s program and guidance, students have the potential to grow from a few hives to 10–20 hives with confidence.

In this 2-hour class, Daniel covers:

  • Spring feeding and mite treatment for overwintered hives

  • How to build long-term sustainability in your beekeeping journey

  • Feeding strategies to trigger queen laying

  • Counting brood frames and performing successful splits

  • How to create nucs and raise queens in spring and summer

  • Marking and tracking queens

  • Best practices for selling queens and nucs

  • Techniques for increasing honey yields

  • How to predict your season — honey yields, growth potential, and overall outcomes

After completing both the beginner series and this advanced class, you will have gained the full scope of Daniel’s beekeeping knowledge — and achieved his goal for you: to become an independent, capable, and confident beekeeper.

This class is not intended for those planning to become full-time commercial operators, but it provides a strong foundation should you choose to pursue that path in the future.

Daniel will present a comprehensive slideshow and demonstrate inspection techniques using an empty hive with labelled frames. Come prepared to take notes. Students will receive checklists, handouts, and a digital copy of the slides after the class.

Daniel Kneblewski is a passionate beekeeper with formal training and mentorship from master beekeepers and local breeders. Over the past seven years, he has doubled the size of his bee yards multiple times, caught swarms, bred bees, navigated major losses, managed new pests and diseases, and performed rescue calls. He currently manages 15–25 hives each year and is dedicated to helping new beekeepers gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

The class fee is $150.00+tax ($169.50). Kindly ensure the full payment is made within 24 hours to help streamline the process on our end. When submitting your payment, please include your name and the class you're paying for in the comments section.
